In 1930, Nestle was approached by the Brazilian Coffee Institute to seek a way to preserve the huge coffee surpluses. Nestle took up the challenge and 7 years later, succeeded in producing the world's first fully soluble coffee extract. In 1938, Nescafe was launched in Switzerland in powdered form, packaged in tins and available in both regular and decaffeinated varieties.
Nescafe made its way to Malaysia in the late 1950s and has since established itself as the leading instant coffee brand in Malaysia.
